THE PERFECT TV AND MOVIE FILMING LOCATIONS

Readers of USA Today voted Scotland the world's Best Cinematic Destination in 2015. Wow, what an accolade to have! From Stanley Kubrick and James Bond to Outlander and Braveheart, Scotland is a prime filming location. There has even been a Bollywood blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which used Scotland as a backdrop.

Both our centres in Argyll and Cairngorms are ideal for a wide range of TV and movie locations due to their large grounds and surrounding scenery, including mountains, forests, rivers and hills.

The sites offer excellent accommodation options including main houses, lodges, farmhouse, camping pods and can include catering.

BENMORE – Argyll

At Benmore Outdoor Centre, there is the main manor house and we also have a 19th Century farmhouse and cottage.  All can be used for sets and would be great for period dramas due to their isolated, rural locations and few pylons or signs of modern technology.

Benmore and Argyll have been the location for a wide number of tv and film productions.

Multi award winning Left Bank Pictures production of Behind Her Eyes, adapted by Hannibal’s Steve Lightfoot, used Benmore House for filming of the six-part thriller series which premiered on Netflix in 2021.  Over several days the House was used for the rehabilitation Centre scenes.  Left Bank Pictures examples of work include White Lines, The Crown, Outlander, The replacement.

BAFTA-winning Sigma Films project titled Educated, funded by Creative Scotland was made at Benmore.   They spent 7 days filming internally and externally at Benmore House along with other areas of Cowal.  They used the site for location filming as well as utilising the accommodation and catering facilities on offer. Sigma films recent examples of work include Outlaw King, Malevolent
