Experience Outdoors wants to encourage all communities and age groups to discover outdoor environments and activities. We engage individuals, educational bodies and organisations in recreational, adventure, social and personal development through awards and achievement programmes. As a member of the Institute for Outdoor Learning, we share their values and ethical practice.

Residential course delivery has a growth mindset philosophy. This includes our six core elements of teamwork, leadership, resilience, weather, nutrition and positive communication. Schools using the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), will have the option to identify and integrate specific Experiences and Outcomes.

Activities and interests outwith of formal qualifications recognise that life and work skills come from a wide range of activities. These can include practical outdoor learning, mentoring, volunteering or fundraising activities — whether they take place at school, college or elsewhere. These include DofE and eco-schools.

Experience Outdoors offer events focused on Outdoor Learning and achievement. As an organisation, we create, develop and run a wide range of courses throughout the year. These cover areas including schools and communities, awards and achievement, national governing bodies and CEC excursions.

Our resource and services section contains a wealth of information around technical and safety, schools and communities info and documents, including positive action against poverty, plus our equipment hire booking service. Our outdoor learning experience allows us to offer a consulting and commissioning service.

Outdoor adventure

Benmore set in Argyll Forest’s enchanting Botanical Gardens near the West Coast Cowal Penninsula of Dunoon.

Lagganlia located within the outstanding natural beauty of Cairngorms National Park, close to the popular highland holiday destination and mountain resort of Aviemore.

Bangholm is home to our Edinburgh-based Outdoor Learning Team, situated on the outskirts of the city on the North Edinburgh Cycling Network.
