ADVENTURE EDUCATION FOCUS
Adventure skills courses deliver an in-depth focus on one adventurous activity maximising individuals’ skills acquisition, challenging and developing the use of progressive locations and tasks. Can include activity award accreditation where applicable.
We provide residential courses that deliver an in-depth focus on a specific activity. These include
- Skiing – available at Lagganlia
- Sailing – available at Benmore
- Kayaking and canoeing
- Hillwalking and navigation
Based on a thorough understanding of your participants’ existing skills and experiences, we design a course that provides appropriate support and challenge for individuals, applied within different contexts. We have specialist instructors with wide-ranging skills and backgrounds who create and deliver the right course for you. They specialise in coaching and develop professional relationships quickly to support skills acquisition and development. A focused delivery allows participants to explore specialist kit and learn effective personal and group risk management.
You may want to introduce additional challenges, including an expedition via overnight wild camps in a remote location.
Opportunities exist to incorporate activity award accreditation where applicable. This opportunity is valuable and is welcomed by schools as a crucial part of recognising achievement.
Course delivery has a growth mindset philosophy, and we can focus on one or more of our six core elements
- Positive communication.
Based on our commitment to lifelong learning, we can work with individuals to encourage, explore, and establish
- A lifelong interest in outdoor activity
- Advanced education
- Prosperous future careers in adventurous activity work.
Depending on the activity, the instructor to participant ratios may reduce from 1:10 to 1:8 or 1:6 to comply with the latest national governing body guidance.
Please contact Benmore Outdoor Centre or Lagganlia Outdoor Centre to find out more and discuss the different options.
