Lagganlia itself is one of Sport Scotland's accredited Training Centre, we are approved to deliver instructor training courses on behalf of the National Governing Body. Current opportunities can be found on our event listings UKSS Instructor courses. We have our own artificial slope in the grounds of the centre, boasting a ski tow and next generation surface that allows skis and boards to glide safely with less surface contact and therefore less friction build up. All this is done whist allowing for better edge grip and easier carving. The sheltered artificial slope is an excellent alternative when the Scottish mountains are storm bound.

If you are at Lagganlia for a residential course we will provide instruction, accommodation, catering, equipment and transport to and from the mountains. If you are looking for instruction only there are many operators in the area worth checking out.  Lagganlia Guests receive a 15% discount at Free ski. Free Ski are a BASI approved ski school, operating a small friendly business around the concept of enjoying winter sports safely. They offer competitive prices and tailored tuition. SKIING

Alpine or downhill skiing is the most common form of skiing. Taking place on clearly marked pistes, ascent is by lifts and tows to save energy for the down hill journey. Piste difficulty depends upon how well the run is maintained, the width and gradient of the slope.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

Cross country skiing also known as Nordic involves moving over largely flat expanses of snow covered terrain. It is easy to learn and allows you to enjoy scenery at your own pace.

SNOWBOARDING

Snowboarding is an evolution of skiing inspired by surfing and skateboarding and often considered a cool sport. It is said to be harder to get to grips with the basics initially but easier to master.
